Joanna Manson, AICP Bio

In her career as a land use planner Ms. Manson brings a wealth of experience considering, communicating, recommending and integrating many facets of how various populations and communities use of lands impact the health and safety of our natural infrastructure – air and water systems, and the integrity and safety of our constructed infrastructure – facilities, utilities, transportation networks. In her work she has observed how each of these key systems and networks have various jurisdictional purviews which are necessary for their on-going operational functionality. However, each of these specific ‘functional’ areas of purview operate within their own specific context and therefore require cross-jurisdictional coordination and consideration. Provision of open planning processes and shared visions of what ‘could be’, are our key assets for bridging these gaps to find innovative solutions to provide constructed development in alignment with ecosystems.

Her planning career and experience has spanned a variety of planning work at various levels of governance. She has served as a planner for local cities and counties, at the regional, state and federal level, and for research agencies. She has worked on projects as diverse as providing demographic info for future development projections, producing waste management plan, reviewing proposed transportation and utility corridor plans, drafting scope of works for facility/site/ regional master plans, and special studies for determining basis and best integration of marine energy – renewable energy. She has worked with various interest groups and has a keen interest in ensuring incorporation of cultural, natural heritage while space for new innovations are equitably integrated.

Thank you,
